The greatest good we do is the lives we change for the better. Out of the many good causes in our community, I have not found any that are also a great investment in the future the way Davis Education Foundation is. At Hughes General Contractors, our future success depends greatly on the success of the students of today. If they can achieve their full potential, then our community will thrive. Davis Education Foundation maximizes every dollar we contribute and helps to remove barriers preventing students from students achieving their full potential. The opportunity provided by the Foundation to the students broadens their horizons beyond the fundamentals they learn in class; it helps them to understand kindness and generosity and love for their fellow man. The first year that the Foundation funded Unified Sports basketball -- a program where students of all intellectual abilities play on sports teams together -- I was brought to tears to see how many special needs children in our community had never had such an opportunity. I was touched when one of the moms wrote that her son's life was forever changed. I was even more touched to find out that her son was not one of the special needs kids, but an elite member of his school team who had signed up to help as a peer tutor. Those kinds of experiences do not typically happen inside the classroom, but Davis Education Foundation is making sure they are available for every student.
